Two Paleocene Fossil Leaves (Davidia & Zizyphoides) - Montana
This is a pair of detailed fossil eaves from the Fort Union Formation of Montana. They are from the Paleocene, or approximately 60 million years old. The dark orange preservation of the leaf fossil contrasts well against the lighter shale, and all the veins of the leaf can be seen in good relief.
The large leaf is Zizyphoides flabellus and the smaller one is Davidia antiqua. There maybe some minor touchups to the leaf where parts flaked onto the other side of the rock when split. It comes with an acrylic display stand.
