Rare Macroneuropteris Scheuchzeri - 7 Inches Long!

This is a stunning and very large (7 inches long) example of a rare type of seed plant from Mazon Creek, Macroneuropteris scheuchzeri. It is very well preserved with highly defined details raised above the surface of the rock.

The Mazon creek deposits are world famous for their finely preserved fossils found within these ironstone nodules. Thousands if not millions of these nodules have been collected over the years from the spoil heaps of abandoned coal mines in the area.
