Huge, 3.6" Pycnodontiforme Fish Crushing Mouthplate

This is a crushing mouthplate from what would have been a very large Pycnodontiform fish. It was collected from the Upper Cretaceous deposits near Pycnodontiform fish. Pycnodontiform fish superficial resemble angelfish and had a mouthful of knobby teeth that it used to crush it's food. Typically single teeth or partial sets are found unlike this specimen.

Given the size and completeness of this mouth plate it's a pretty unusual find.
