.9" Partial Ordovician Brittle Star (Ophiura) - Morocco
This is a .9" wide, fossil brittle star (Ophiura) from the Kataoua Formation of Morocco. It is Ordovician in age, approximately 450 million years old. Three arms from a second starfish are visible along one edge of the shale. The orange coloration is natural and due to the oxidization of iron pyrite.
