7.5" Phareodus Fossil Fish - Uncommon Species

This is an exceptionally nice, 5.5" long example of one of the more uncommon fossil fish (Phareodus) found in the Green River Formation. It is very detailed and has a wonderful orangish/brown coloration that contrasts well with the creme colored shale. It's centered on an unbroken 8.6x5.3" slab of shale and comes with an acrylic display stand. We can add a wall hanger the piece upon request.

If you look closely you can see how Phareodus has a mouthful of sharp pointy teeth making is a voracious lake predator. In fact the name Phareodus actually means "to have tooth" Spines from other fish such as Mioplosus and Priscacara have frequently been found preserved in it's stomach.
