This is a beautiful, polished section of fossil coral from Sumatra, Indonesia. The polishing makes viewing of the intricate, fossilized structure of the coral. This coral has been polished on one side, with the rest of the specimen left in its rough state.

It comes with an acrylic display stand.

These corals are approximately 20 million years old and are the remains of ancient reefs. Tectonic action has thrust them up as mountains have formed. As these corals fossilized, the original organic material was replaced by silica, iron, manganese, and other minerals.
