10.7" Fossil Tortoise (Testudo) - Uncommon Species

This is a nice, large, 10.7" long specimen of an Oligocene aged tortoise (Testudo sp.) collected from the White River Formation of South Dakota. This is the more uncommon genus found in the White River Formation as most of the tortoises are of the genus Stylemys. It's a nicely preserved, and prepared specimen without any significant restoration. Two of the limb bones can be seen in place, protruding out of the underside of the shell.
