This is a fossil jaw section of Palaeogale sp., collected from the Lower Miocene (Aquitanian) of Montaigu-le-Blin, France. There are still four teeth preserved within this mandible. This fossil is approximately 23 million years old. Palaeogale is an extinct genus of small carnivorous mammal that resembled modern day mustelids.
