1.55" Polished Chiapas Amber With Inclusions (5 g) - Mexico

This is a beautiful piece of amber, collected from Chiapas, Mexico. It is 1.55" wide, and bares a wonderful golden-yellow color. This amber specimen is completely unaltered, and contains flora inclusions that can best be viewed in depth under microscope. One of the inclusions looks like it could be a bug, however due to the lack of clarity in this amber, its difficult to come to a conclusion as to whether it's a bug or just flora.

Amber is fossilized tree resin that sometimes contains inclusions such as plant matter, fungi, and insects. This amber comes from mines in Chiapas, Mexico, and was formed during the Early/Middle Miocene (15-23 million years ago). The amber was produced by either the two extinct leguminous trees Hymenaea mexicana or Hymenaea allendis, both of which were initially described from fossil flowers included in Mexican amber.
